Not even the pandemic can stop us from telling our stories inspired by our beautiful province and the rest of Central Luzon. Despite a minor setback last year due to the Luzon-wide lockdown, the largest independent film festival in the region is now up and about and it will be purely online.
CineKabalen Film Festival 8.5, dubbed as Here Comes Sinukwan, is streaming on the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FCDP) Channel from April 14 to 21, 2021.
According to Festival Director and award-winning filmmaker Carlo Enciso Catu, this year’s installment of CineKab is the biggest ever since it has extended its call for entries to the seven provinces of Central Luzon.
Making it to the Central Luzon competition are the following finalists:
“Ang Huling Hantungan” by Vahn Pascual (Bulacan)
“Babuyan” by Aaron Alsol (Bulacan)
“Coda” by Tristan Castañeda & Denice Quimbo (Bulacan)
“Habulan” by Rey Tamayo, Jr. (Pampanga)
“Home For The Ages” by Yuuka Tanaka (Bulacan)
“Huling Hiling” by Mika Ancheta (Pampanga)
“Kibo” by Jay Francis Letrillard (Zambales)
Seven Kapampangan films will also battle it out to win the much-coveted Aring Sinukwan trophy this year. Here they are:
Amigo” by JL Mallari (City of San Fernando)
“Kalinguan Tane Ing Lutu Nang Ima” by EJ Gagui (Minalin)
“Mipasoso” by Raven Manalese (Bacolor)
“Saingsing” by Chic Mirano (Sta. Rita)
“Sangkan” by Morissey Hans (City of San Fernando)
“Quing Lalam Ning Aldo” by Red Fajardo (Floridablanca)
“Yellow” by Stephen Canlas (Mabalacat City)
Aside from the films in competition, a Culinary Cinema Section will also be offered to the worldwide audience to complete the Kapampangan cultural experience.
