Tallest Ferris wheel
The Pampanga Eye, perhaps, is one of the most common landmarks in the province nowadays. People who visit Pampanga, and even the locals, would know they’re already in the vicinity once they saw the Ferris wheel.
Located in Sky Ranch Pampanga, the Pampanga Eye is the tallest Ferris wheel in the country. You can enjoy the amazing view of Mt. Arayat and the surrounding areas when you ride this 213 feet-Ferris wheel.
Biggest lanterns
Of course our giant lanterns make it to the list! Dubbed as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines, Pampanga takes pride in producing the biggest lanterns, and holding the brightest and most colorful Christmas event in the country.
The Giant Lantern Festival (GLF) is an annual event held in the City of San Fernando. Tourists and locals alike gather to watch the exhibition of giant lanterns with lights and music yearly. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and safety protocols, GLF 2020 was held online on December 16. (Related story: Watch Pampanga’s Giant Lanterns, anywhere)
Longest mall
Have you ever tried strolling around SM City Pampanga to look for clothes, buy gifts, or simply bond with your friends and family? Do you also remember feeling a bit tired after all the walking? It is because this first SM Supermall in Central Luzon is also the longest and biggest shopping mall in the region today.
Largest swimming lesson and largest waterpark
Did you know the world’s largest swimming lesson took place in Pampanga on June 20, 2019?
Held in Aqua Planet, the country’s newest and most modern water theme park, a total of 1,819 people successfully broke the Guinness world record for the largest swimming lesson in a single venue.
Aqua planet is a 10-hectare waterpark with over 38 water slides and attractions is one of the biggest and most modern in Asia. It is located inside Clark Freeport Zone.
Largest Bringhe and Sisig
In 2014, the largest sisig was cooked in Pampanga as part of the Northern Food Festival kickoff in MarQuee Mall. About 60kgs of chicken liver, 225kgs of pig’s ears and cheeks, five sacks of onions, two sacks of calamansi, five gallons of soy sauce, and 10 kilos of bird’s eye pepper were used for the cooking of the largest sisig ever.
The largest bringhe was also cooked in the City of San Fernando in 2016. Renowned Kapampangan artist and chef Claude Tayag led the cooking of the 10 feet in diameter dish. Bringhe is the Pinoy version of Paella.
No other province has topped these biggest food events yet.
