Museum date, anyone? If you’re looking for a fun yet meaningful way to spend your weekend, you should definitely visit these museums in Pampanga to learn more or perhaps relearn our history and culture.
Here are seven museums you can visit with your family, friends, and/or your special someone:
1. Center for Kapampangan Studies
Address: Holy Angel University, Angles City
Schedule: Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
The Center for Kapampangan Studies at Holy Angel University has four museums: the main museum, Pinatubo Museum, Museum of Kapampangan Arts, and the Holy Angel University (HAU) History Room. You can schedule your visit on their website.
2. Museo Ning Angeles
Address: Heritage District, Santo Rosario Street, Angeles City
Schedule: Mondays to Saturdays (except holidays), 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
The Museo Ning Angeles, managed by Kuliat Foundation, Inc., aims to preserve Angeles City’s rich cultural heritage.
If you can’t make it on the weekend, the museum will be holding its second Marian exhibit titled “Indung Alang Musing: Mary Advocate of the Filipinos” from September 7 to 22. Make sure to bring your friends or family members because admission is free anyway!
3. Museum of Philippine Social History
Address: Santo Entierro Street, Angeles City
Schedule: Tuesdays to Sundays, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
If you want a glimpse of our history and traditions, the Museum of Philippine Social History is the place for you. You can find nine galleries in this museum, namely History of the Mansion, Philippine Textiles, Accessories and Tools, Filipino Clothing Styles, Architectural Styles Across the Archipelago, Antique House Furniture, Filipino Music Room, Filipino Games, Philippine Mythological Creatures, and Filipino Dining Room and Kitchen.
4. Museo at Aklatan ni Diosdado Macapagal
Address: San Nicolas I, Lubao, Pampanga
Schedule: Tuesdays to Sundays, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
A poor boy from Lubao to Malacañang. Know more about the life of Diosdado Macapagal, the ninth president of the Philippines, at the Museo at Aklatan ni Diosdado Macapagal.
5. Museo ni Jose B. Lingad
Address: San Nicolas I, Lubao, Pampanga
Schedule: Tuesdays to Sundays, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
You can learn more about the life journey of a lawyer, war veteran, and former Pampanga Governor Jose B. Lingad at the Museo ni Jose B. Lingad. He was a staunch critic of the Marcos dictatorship and was assassinated in San Fernando during Martial Law.
6. Clark Museum and 4D Theatre
Address: Sergio Osmeña, Clark Freeport Zone, Mabalacat, Pampanga
Schedule: Tuesdays to Sundays, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
The Clark Museum features a diverse collection of artifacts, old photographs, and interactive displays, among others, that reflect the history of Clark and its surrounding areas. It has four galleries and a 48-seater 4D theatre that plays a 20-minute documentary film entitled “Risen from the Ashes.” You can check Visit Clark on Facebook for more details.
7. Museum of Philippine Arts and Culture
Address: Ramar Village, San Agustin, City of San Fernando, Pampanga
Schedule: Tuesdays to Sundays, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
The Museum of Philippine Arts and Culture has two buildings: the first one features the works of various Filipino visual artists such as Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Mauro “Malang” Santos, and National Artist Fernando C. Amorsolo; while the second building displays metal age pottery, excavated Chinese tradewares, and pre-war furniture and tribal cultural objects from the Cordilleras and Southern Philippines, among others.
The regular admission fee is P300, and P240 and P200 for senior citizens and students (up to college level) respectively.
